8 years old!

My June girl. you are so precious to me. you are missing one of your front teeth right now and it is the absolute cutest.. you smile all weird all the time to show it off for pictures and it is my favorite. you have 3 more wiggly teeth too! such a fun age. you are an absolute sunshine in my days. right now, my days are full of the little 3 kiddos (3 under age 5) and it is exhausting to be honest. but you come around with your generous spirit and your kind, servant heart and you never demand anything and you are always so thankful for what I do for you- you just light me up! you fill me back up again when I feel all poured out. you are such a gift. you are full of joy- deep joy that comes from the Lord, not from your circumstances. you actually just got baptized (2/11/24) on the day we celebrated your birthday party and it was so so special. you came to me one night asking if you could get baptized and we talked all about it. you really understand your belief in Jesus as your Savior and wanted to follow in obedience to His command to get baptized. i could not be more proud of you! your big sis of course heard me celebrating you that night and asked if she could get baptized too- jealous? i said we would talk about it later and she hasn't brought it up again and was happy for you as we celebrated so hopefully she will come back to that decision on her own for the right reasons later. the church asked you to go on camera for a quick interview and you were so nervous and we practiced a lot. i can't wait to see it at church soon! You have really grown in your spiritual walk this year. you have a little kid Bible by your bed and read it every night and you get on your knees and say the, "Now I lay me down to sleep..." prayer. so sweet! we are doing a pretty wonderful Bible curriculum called The Seed Studies that goes along with our science curriculum The Whimsy Studies and it has brought up some really great heart-probing discussions and I think you've learned a ton. Like they talked all about Matthew 11:29 "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." it totally uses the KJV which is annoying, but funny. anyway, we learned about how a yoke takes TWO animals and how we have to partner with Jesus to bear His yoke...I had never really thought about it that way and it was really beautiful. we are enjoying it a lot! You are doing Teaching Textbooks for Math and flying through your 2nd grade work- you are a bit ahead which is fun. you are just starting to do problems like 85x4 and you are struggling a bit currently, but with lots of practice I know you'll be blowing through them soon! we have used a youtube channel to memorize all your multiplication facts to nursery rhyme songs- super fun! you actually caught on to those last year when I was teaching Jo.  You are enjoying The Good and the Beautiful for LA- they have some really engaging chapter books that work directly on the new concepts you're mastering and it is awesome. You loved "Wesley and the Wolves"! They really weave the Lord and upstanding character into their work too which is so cool. You are doing Tuesday School with Mrs. Rosie with the Tasa girls and you love that. you bring your doll each week and all 4 girls play dolls during play breaks. you also get to walk down to their neighborhood park and play and have lunch together and i think it is just the perfect choice for this year- we needed a slower year with a new baby and you and Jo are just loving that consistent social time while also really getting some schooling in. you're studying the 50 states, the government, the presidents and lots of random science stuff- you even did a whole snail unit study! You really want to get back into gymnastics and to do piano, but I just don't have the bandwidth to commit to that quite yet, so we are hoping to work toward those goals next year.  You are still just the cutest little fashionista around and you always choose the cutest outfits. we recently (well maybe half a year?) moved all three girls into the garage/playroom and you love it. we have 2 bunk beds in there and you have a bottom bunk and with the back of your bed, the back of the other bunk kitty corner, and the black curtains your bed area is like a cozy little cave. you sometimes complain about getting woken up, but you refuse to fall asleep anywhere else. it is so sweet. you make your bed just about daily and are constantly changing up the "style" by changing comforters, etc. you are sleeping with one of my old Holly Hobbie dolls on your bed which makes my heart absolutely sing! what else, lady? You love your Ita and you and Jo tag along on so many of her errands, which is special. I am so thankful we get to have such close relationships with her and all your other extended family by living with her. We just committed to living with ita for another 3 years and your dad got me a dishwasher, we just painted the bathroom, and we are doing many other projects to make the downstairs feel better and make it feel like we really want to stay! someday, we will go build on our property, but I think you and your siblings and your dad love it here so much that it makes me ok with staying. you have recently gotten really into writing and you write me the cutest notes ever. you make me SO happy- like i said, you fill my cup up! you wrote a thank you note to your swim lesson teacher too after only one lesson- the cutest i tell you. you and Jo are mostly best friends who fight sometimes. you are SO SO SO good to her. you happily shared all of your bday presents with her- jelly beans, your brand new American girl doll bunk bed (you let her have the top bunk!), your clay art supplies- all of it. you are so generous. and she is so not generous with you, but you still just give and give. we are working with her on it, i promise! you are such a good friend to all your little friends. i just love watching you grow up, my girl. you are such a delight! everywhere you go, your character is outstanding and you make me so proud. don't tell your siblings, but in this seasons of you life, you are my favorite child by far ;) I just love being your mom. I know I am forgetting some things, but I wanted to get this done because it keeps getting pushed to the back of my to-do list and i had time right now! You are actually out with Grandma Sandee at the Elephant and Piggy play at the Beaverton Civic Theater as i type this! you just had a few nights sleepover for your bday at her house...you brought some sparklers you got for your bday from Etta and shared some with your uncles- always sharing. I hope you had a great time and I can't wait to hug you and hear all about it and see your cute little smile when you get home in a few hours. I love you, my girl. forever and always. no matter what. I pray that we will continue to grow closer and that the Lord would give me wisdom to keep teaching you more about Him and growing your faith. i pray that you would stay healthy and would know so much joy in life. I pray that your relationships with your siblings would be so beautiful and be a highlight of your life. I pray that you continue to have a magical childhood and that you will look back on it with so much nostalgia and happiness. and I pray that you would always see me as "home" that you would know I am always here to hold you, hug you, pray with you, talk with you, listen to you, serve you, or just be there... it is my favorite job in life being your mama. te amo. xoxoxo
