Hey sweet girl! Looks like I forgot to actually write anything in your last post 2 months ago....whoops! Well, at least I am posting somewhat regularly, right? ;) You turned 11 months old a few days ago and I am just amazed how quickly this year has gone by! You will be ONE in just a few weeks! We were driving to a baby shower a while ago and Johanna said that she was going to share just the bottom part of her cupcake with you because babies can't have sugar and I was explaining that you couldn't even have the bottom part because it was still sugary, but that you could have your own cupcake on your first birthday and then I realized it was only 7 weeks away and just about started crying. My baby is so big already!! We are not going to have a birthday party for you, just family dinners this year because I know you won't remember it anyway ;) We also aren't getting you any presents haha I feel kind of like a terrible mom because Johanna totally had a big 1st birthday party and we bought her presents... but we did forget to give her the yearly $500 into her college savings account until her 2nd birthday, so she lost a bunch of interest...and you will be getting your $500 on Feb 5th! Man, 2nd children get the short stick, don't they? I think until you and Jo are older, we will alternate years on birthday parties because there are only 6 weeks between and pretty much you have all the same friends...so you will get a big 2nd birthday party and Jo didn't get any party because you were a newborn...so, kind of even?
You have a pretty nasty cold right now and it has been rough. You have woken up 3 times already since I put you to bed... You are whining right now, but I am hoping you will go back to sleep so I can keep working on this! Your dad is off playing soccer and I kind of love a little time now and then to work on extra things like this. I hope that someday you will read all of these and they will make you so HAPPY! My goal is to just pour my heart and memories out to you every now and then so that you have something to cherish if I pass away or just to learn more about your childhood and get all sorts of details that I probably won't remember by the time you're old enough to ask anyway! You stopped whining! It has been super icy today so we were stuck home all day and you and Jo are both catching up on sleep because we just got home a few days ago from a little family vacation to the coast. You did awesome! You shared a room with Jo for the first time and there was some great compromising- you slept with a little light on and Jo slept with the white noise on. You are going to be a champion sleeper- we have bounced you around like no one's business. You and Jo both. We kicked you out of our room at 6 months because you would wake us up like 4x a night...so you got Jo's room and we booted her upstairs and that was ok for a while. and then your grandparents left for MX and Jo kept sleeping in the hallway because she wanted to hear us 2 stories down (sad!) so we moved you into the closet where you can have your white noise on and lights off and Jo is in the main room... you were in a pack'n'play and then we just moved the whole crib into the closet... I think we are a little bit crazy! but it is working ok. it has been about a full week of it. You go to bed around 6:30 and Jo goes down at 7:30 but you have been waking up the past 3 nights and want to see Jo and whatnot...not sure if it is due to your cold or not though. anyway, you are an awesome sleeper and I am so thankful! You go down around 6:30 and sleep 12 hours straight. You just dropped your dream feed about 3 weeks ago (I hope it doesn't come back with this cold and all the wake ups). and you nap pretty well! some days, you will take a long nap mid-day (11-2) if we are out and about in the morning. and other days you will nap twice (9-10:30 and 1-2ish).
you are getting so cute and smiley! you will say something that kind of resembles "cheese" when we pull out the phone for a pic. and your hair is just now starting to grow a lot and is making you look more like a toddler! You just started 12 month clothing this month, but still fit nicely in 9 month...we are using all hand-me-downs and there were only 4 long-sleeve onesies in the 9 month clothes, and tons in the 12 month sooo we moved you up haha. you are pretty tiny! I am excited to see what % you are in at your one year appointment! you were well over 8 lbs when you were born and I think you were in the 80th% somewhere and each appointment, you have been at a lower %. you are so super active though, so probably just going to be a petite little thing! You also have tiny feet- size 3 shoes are still too big on you so hoping they fit in a few weeks when you start really walking.
You are ALMOST walking! You can totally stand by yourself, but get nervous and will only do it if you're really busy with something. You can totally walk holding only one hand and I am sure you could do it yourself if you felt more confident. I think you will do just like Johanna and start really walking at your birthday "party"...we will see! You have 2 adorable little teeth! You are saying lots of things (that I am sure only mom and dad can understand!). You say "num num" for any sort of food. Whenever Jo has any food in her bowl and is not at the table, you will crawl around after her crying and saying "num num!" until you get some...hilarious! Not for Jo probably, but for me! You say "mama" and "dada" and I am pretty sure you try to say "sissy". You say "cece" and something that sounds a lot like "what is it?" (which I say to you a lot!). You dance anytime music comes on- so stinking cute! You nurse 5-7 times a day and still refuse a bottle. You will sip water out of a cup, so I guess it is good to just skip the sippy cup phase altogether? You bit my nipple the other day- twice. and you laughed about it. I sternly told you "no" and put you on the ground facing away from me and you got really upset and haven't done it since, so *fingers crossed*! oooh you say "Hi" all the time! all the time! anytime you are greeting anyone. anytime you want our attention. anytime we are nursing in the rocking chair by the mirror and you see your reflection. it is my favorite word you say! so sweet! You certainly know which things are off limits... you will start crawling toward the dog food or water and then will wait until we see you and then crawl away- so obedient ;) and if you find a phone, you will wait until we see you and then try to hide it while laughing...you're so precious I just want to squeeeeze you when you try to be naughty like that. You and Jo are starting to fight a little bit..you want to do everything she does and she gets mad because you get into her toys so she will take her toys somewhere you can't reach and you will crawl after her crying. It is kind of cute now, but I am sure it won't be soon. I am really praying you two get along well and are each other's best friend and really enjoy playing together!
ummm well anyway, I am not sure what else to update on. this is kind of a rambly post- I just wanted to pound it out before bed and so I didn't read it over several times...oh well! something is better than nothing, right? Anyway, I LOVE you so so much! and I have so many feelings about you being 11 months old... happy that you are almost out of the demanding baby phase.... sad that my baby is almost out of the infant stage.... excited to see you start walking and all the incredible change and growth and learning that comes from 1-2... these are such incredibly precious times and I just have to thank God that I am able to stay home with you and your sister and watch you learn and change and grow day in and day out. Sometimes, it is exhausting dealing with the whining and the playing pretend and the poopy diapers and cleaning the high-chair all.day.long. Today, was a day where you and Jo were both so whiny and we were literally stuck home all day and I had to catch myself from saying something about not enjoying it to stopping and thanking God for the opportunity to be here with you all day long- all the time. I get to see the hard. I get to comfort the bonks and sickness. I get to watch all the learning. I get to do the boring play pretend and watch your imagination. I get to see all of this incredible journey and store it up in my heart. I never want to forget these days of just my 2 girls and how much fun you are! How much you love me! How much you want to be with me all the time! How happy you are- babies are the best! How I can make you laugh. How you cuddle with me when you're sleepy. How you breastfeed and play with my mouth. How you are learning to stand and walk. How you are saying words. What an incredible blessing. You are such a masterpiece from God and I delight in you! I love being your mommy and I am just so obsessed with you- I pray that you will always know my love for you. unconditional. i love you always- no matter what. You mean the world to me and I am so thankful to have gotten this precious first year with you! i will cherish these memories in my heart. I love you! xoxoxo mama
